Need Help

I am installing a home theatre in bsmt that will have a Mitsibishi HC 1500 Projector. I want to hook up a Blu Ray DVD, Receiver, Speakers and cable box to it. What connections should I use? The projector has 1 HDMI plug--what should I connect to that? And I want to use component cables for everything else. What is the hook up scheme I should use?

Re: Need Help

It would help to know what brand and model of Blu ray player, and A/V receiver, you have, so we'll know what connections everything has..........such as "does the Blu ray player have the 5.1 analog outputs?" "Does receiver have 5.1 analog inputs?" "Does receiver process HD audio formats over HDMI, or is the receiver's HDMI inputs for passthrough only?" "Does receiver even have HDMI inputs, and how many?"

Normally I'd say, with only one HDMI on tv...........use the Blu ray player! But, since your projector isn't 1080p, it probably won't matter.

Re: Need Help

For sure, I would hook up the Blu-ray player with HDMI to projector for the best image quality. If you don't use HDMI for the Blu-ray, it won't upconvert the standard DVD's. Does the receiver have HDMI switching? Does the cable box have HDMI?

Re: Need Help

The receiver is Sony STR-DG910 7.1 w/ HDMI and Blu Ray is Panasonic BD 30
The speakers I am looking at our Boston Acoustics Horizon MCS 100 Surround system--are these speakers good to ensure a high quality sound for my HT? I have decided to look at the Panasonic PT-AX 200U projector, due to the fact it has 2 HDMI inputs, which will help quality. Any help on this equipment selection/setup would be appreciated.
