DVD Line

Hey guys,

When watching some DVDs there is a weird line on the bottom of the screen. Almost looks like part of the movie is broken off. Most recently I saw it on a copy of knocked up in anamorphic widescreen. I have a hitachi 42" plasma and an upconverting samsung dvd player. Any idea what it is and how to remedy it?

Re: DVD Line

Buy another dvd player (j/k.......sort of....nothing personal at all, but I don't like Samsung gear).

Anyhoo..........

Try turning off the upconvert feature on the dvd player. There's a chance the Hitachi's built-in upconvertor will do a better job than the player's and (if that is the actual problem) eliminate the weirdness that is happening.

And if you're using the HDMI connection, try component or S-video just to rule that out as a source of the problem.

Do you have a picture, I don't have a good idea of what it is you're seeing.
