Scientific Atlanta DVR/Cable Box and Noticeable "Flicker'
I hooked up my brand new Optoma HD70 projector today.
Without calibrating anything, I popped in a dvd into my Oppo 981 dvd player, which up-converts to the HD70's native resolution of 720p, and it was gooooooood!
Then, I switched over to cable to watch some HD stuff, and immeadiately became aware of a noticeable flicker in the picture.
Checked the connections, checked the HDMI cable, swapped out the HDMI cable with the one from the dvd player, (as I knew that was good): no joy
Chatted with a Comcast Techie online, he suggested that I download the manual for my Scientific Atlanta 8300 HD DVR/Cable Box at this web site. Read it through and found out how to go into "Advanced Setup" and configure the box to output at 720p. It worked like a charm.
I love a story with a happy ending.
