Is the laser dead?
I have a Panasonic DVD-RV32 player, which has provided me exceptional service over the past four or so years. Never had a problem with it. Today, however, when I inserted a disc, the screen on the front of the machine briefly showed "....read", then went completely black. I tried two or three other DVD's, getting the same result with each...none would play. Would I be wrong in assuming that the laser has finally died? If so, I guess, too, it would just be cheaper to buy a new player rather than having this one repaired? Could anyone provide me with any comments on this? Although I truly enjoy watching DVD's, I'm certainly no authority on the mechanics or technologies involved. Thanks
