Problem getting signal from DVD Player to Plasma TV {Toshiba SD-3109 to Samsung 42"}

Hi,

I have a Toshiba SD-3109 DVD player and a Samsung 42" 720p plasma TV.

I've connected the the component video outs (green, blue, red) of the DVD player to the component 1 video ins of the TV with a nice set of Audioquest cables.

For some unknown reason, the TV says "No input signal" or something to effect of "wrong type of signal" when I select component 1 for the source and play a DVD.

I've checked the manuals for both pieces of gear, I can't see anything I'm missing. I am able to get a signal via composite RCA, but the picture is poor.

Any ideas?

Is the dvd player set to progressive? If not, try that. If that doesn't do it, try input 2 on the tv. Double check the setup menus, in player and tv, to see if something is set wrong in there. Try another set of cables. Even though you got a good brand, you can always get hold of a bad set.........

Hi,

I couldn't find anything in the manual or the DVD player controls about switching the mode to progressive. Also, the TV is saying "mode not supported" when I play the DVD. I tried the other input on the TV.

I'm a doof. Dim lighting--cables reversed. Fixed it.

ha! I always switch the green and blue in dim lighting. strange, but they look like each other (green looks like blue, etc).
