Good cartridge match for Technics SLBD20D Turntable?

I have heard great things about this tt. I can get it new for only $120. I have also heard a better cartridge will make a night and day diff. I am thinking about a Grado black P mount for $40. Will this be a good match and sound better than the cart included with the tt? Any owners of the Technics SLBD20D with any other cartridge suggestions?

Any P-mount cart will work on that table. I'm unfamiliar with the one that's installed as stock equipment but I'd be shocked if it wasn't at least decent.

It's a stock Technics P-mount cartridge and it sounds decent. I haven't use my SL-BD20 enough to think of an upgrade. Regarding the Grado P-mount cartridges, I've read that they cause hum. I have no first-person experience with the Grados though.

Audio-Technica, Ortofon, and Shure also make P-mount cartridges.

Philip, remember this thread?

Wow, that's old skool! After many hundreds of hours of service I went back to my old early 80s Stanton cart on my table, I like it better, it has more pleasing bass response than the AT.
