Poor Video Quality - LG 3510A HD Tuner/DVD Player

Since switching to cable they do not offer HD locals. I still had my antenna on the roof along with the original Samsung upconverting DVD player.

The Samsung does a great job video wise but the speed of the menus and remote control response sucks to put it mildly.

Thought I would solve my problem with this unit, plus I could then leave the OTA/DVD on DVI and put my HD DVR Cable box on component and stop swapping things around.

Hooked it up and put in a DVD. Last night we watched DVD 1 of Drawn Together. As soon as I put it in the LG unit we saw a huge quality difference. When my wife notices it it has to be bad.

Tried BSG Season 1, which we also just finished watching, and there was no comparison in picture quality.

OTA is hard to tell. Nothing good in HD on TV and I won't have a good solid comparison until CBS has somethings on this evening. Fox football is still quasi HD and nothing to use to make a good judgement.

Is there a firmware update available for this unit that anyone knows of?

Its going back tommorow night if there is no fix for the PQ.

Is this the only combo unit on the market? If it is what is the recommendation for an OTA unit. I really really hate Samsungs remote quality. Every Samsung unit I've had, while excellent PQ(ota and dvd), the menu system and the remote that takes markmanship aim to make work really push me away from their stuff. Are the newest units better?

Thanks
