clarification - ebay digital cable box

Just to clarify. My post on purchasing a digital cable box off ebay was locked.

I contacted my local provider to discuss the situation with them. They said they had no problem if I purchased a box and used it. They said it would be at my risk if it didn't work. They lease/rent them for $7 per month. If theirs break they replace them. If mine breaks it is my problem. I wouldn't expect anything less.

Since I am already paying for digital cable and have one of thier boxes...additional boxes could be added either by renting another one of theirs or buying my own. No theft or piracy involved. aaarrrrrgggggg matey

Cable companies are offering the use of "cable cards" nowadays. For under $5/m (depending on your company, $3/m here), you can use the cable card with a tv tuner box that supports cable cards.

You missed the point. It is that we do not allow for the discussion of an eBay-purchased cable box as opposed to the one your cable company would have provided. Again, end of thread.
