digital cable box off of ebay

I just upgraded from basic to Comcast digital cable. I have one of their boxes in my main TV room and plan to get a HD box when I finish the basement.

For my bedroom TV, I was wondering if purchasing a used Comcast digital cable box off Ebay would work. They seem to be selling for $50+/-. From Comcast they charge $7 per month...wouldn't take long to recoup the cost.

Will it work? Or will I have to still pay Comcast something (either initially or monthly) to "activate" it? Or does that apply to using it for PPV or OnDemand? I really just want all the digital chanels and HBO in the bedroom.

Thanks for any input.

Ummm...

I would think it is probably stolen and you could just blow $50 on a nice door stop.

Do you not LEASE the cable box - as in, Comcast OWNS it and toy RENT it? How could a private party SELL something that does not belong to them?

Please let us know what happens.

Then you'll have to deal with Comcast. Assuming this box on eBay works, that would be cable piracy, which is a topic frowned upon here.
