cd quality

when i have my dvd player or my 5dics cd player hooked to my denon 884 reviecer it only shows 44.1khz.. is this correct? i thought cd quality was 96khz..i havent really noticed this other than the other day but it just seems a little weak to me. thanx for any help

DAT, DVD and some PCs output at 48 KHz. Various digital broadcast standards used 32 KHz-- although more recent systems have ditched PCM in favor of Dolby Digital. High resolution DVD-Audio is either 96 or 192 KHz.
