Onkyo dv-sp301 won't play certain dvd's...

As it happens, I have 2 onkyo dv-sp301 dvd players. Neither will play DVD essentials or the Eagles HFO disc. It says "reading" when I load the dvd for quite a while then spits it back out. Now my ps2 and apex dvd player have no issues with either of these. Is there something simple I'm missing?

Anyone else have these issues with the onkyo dvd players?

Thx for the response. I was worried that was what people were going to say. I don't think I will be buying onkyo again for a while considering one unit has been used for about 5 hours, and the other about 3 hours.

Have you tried unplugging it for a while ?...My factory fresh Onkyo and JVC would not read certain DVD's until I reset the unit. They've been fine ever since.

I don't know what to think. One of them won't play them at all. The other will play them but I have to load a few times til it takes.

To me, it sounds like a problem with the discs, not with the player(s).

The disc's play fine on an OLD apex dvd changer, playstation2, and my PC dvd player just fine. The onkyo's also play ALL other regular dvd's just fine. It's only the dvd essentials, Eagles HFO dvd, and as of last night the Stained dvd. So concert dvd's seem to be a no go in general. I've been thinking that maybe the concert dvd's are in some odd format and that is causing the issues?? Avia plays just fine, but then I'm stuck with the sub ref level issue.

I'll check the region settings. I'm also still waiting for onkyo support to get back with me.
