My Samsung SIR 4120R crapped out after only a few months of easy use...various programs are pixelated when recorded, and also, some channels are unwatchable directly because of pixelation (or artifacts, don't know the correct term.)
Samsung customer support is lousy. They told me that the SIR 4120 is last year's model; that they are "willing" to replace it with a 4080, a model with lesser HD space; or refund my money. Last month, when I first called to complain, they told me that the 4120 was out of stock, temporarily, and they would put me on the list for a replacement when they come back into stock. Bunch of liars.
They are unwilling to compensate me for giving me a lesser model, so I have pretty much decided to take the refund and get another model. They told me that it is my problem that the 4080 has a lesser HD, and that it costs the same as the 4120, so I just have to accept it, if I go that route.
I am going to Best Buy later today. Does anybody have any suggestions for replacement models?
Do I really want another combo DVR receiver again? OR do I go for the standalone DVR and get the receiver from my Directv provider?
Any help would be most appreciated.
