Toshiba DVD players: Zoran Vaddis V vs. newer MediaTek
The older Toshiba DVD players (SD5700, SD4700, SD4800, SD3800) all had the all-in-one Zoran Vaddis V DAC/deinterlacer. I thought this was also the chipset in the newer Toshiba players (SD4900, SD3900) but discovered otherwise when I saw the innards of my friend's SD4900. The chip was just branded with a logo and had a model number etched on it. A quick search on Google helped me discover that it's a MediaTek MT1379 chip.
Does anybody know anything about the MediaTek? Is it also an all-in-one DAC/deinterlacer as was the older Vaddis V? How does the new MediaTek compare to the Vaddis V?
