Wait for DVI or buy now?
We have an older Hitachi DVD upstairs my wife uses. It works fine for her for DVD but has no MP3 or CDR support. It won't play 99% of burned discs. I toyed with the idea of geting her a really cheap player that plays CDR or MP#.
My prefrered idea is to give here my Toshiba SD 4800 which I use currently with my Toshiba 51H83 rptv. I also use it as my CD player (through the toslink and Rotel 1055 DACs).
The Budget for the Upgrade would probaly be $500-600 CAN $. Even though my Toshiba will do DVDA the availability of these Dics is so limited in Nova Scotia that I have not bothered with it. I probly use the DVD player 30% music and 70% HT. So my main concern is picture quality. If the DACs in a player were better than my Rotel I would consider using the analog outputs on a new player but if not it will just be a transport.
I see a few DVD players now that have DVI but very few.
If you were me would you wait for more DVI players (are there more coming?) or would you just bite the bullet and get the best DVD player you can get now. If this is the choice what are the best Pic quality in that Range?
