Is there a CD player for sale that’s less then $50?

Hi, I was wandering if there are any CD readers under $50 that you can use with a speaker system such as an Altec Lansing ATP3. What I would like to do is buy a CD reader and hook it up to either bookshelf speakers to or a surround sound speaker system to use in the family room. I would only be playing CDs on it so I don’t need it to read DVDs. Thanks.

I'm not sure I understand the question....
CD players are made to be used with an Audio Amp of some kind. You don't / can't hook them right up to speakers directly.

Sorry about that I’m very new to speaker systems and all of the home theater stuff. What I’m trying to do is get a good CD player for under $150 to replace our boom box. It looks like with computer speakers you get can get some very good systems for a lot lest then say your standard book shelf or floor standing speaker. So I would like to buy a computer speaker system and then be able to play it without a computer.

The cheapest CD player made, will hook up to a computer speaker system, and be able to play.

That would probably be the cheapest replacement, besides another boom box.

Now it makes sense, the ATP3 is a speaker system made for computers?????

Well I guess it’s not made just for computers but I think that’s the main use for it. What do you mean by “The cheapest CD player made”?

It may sound a little bit stupid, but you can find DVD players for $20-$30 at Walmart that will play everything, including CDs. It may be a little much for now, but someday you may want DVD playback as well and you will be set.

The only way to safely double your money is to fold it over once and place it back in your pocket.

However, unless your speakers have an internal amp (most computer ones do), you'll need to get an amp.

It'll sound just as good, when you use it as computer speakers. That is, when you are about 2-3 feet away from the speakers at your computer. If you're seriously needing some good audio system (not just some background ambient music), computer speakers cannot be compared to standard speakers.
