Flickering visible with DVDs when coaxial cable connected...
I recently purchased a Sony Trinitron Wega 24" flatscreen (KV24FS100) for my bedroom, as well as a Sony DVD player (DVPNS325S). I soon picked up a set of standard Monster component video cables, and much to my dismay I noticed what I would describe as intermittent flickering, primarily noticable during still image. The flickering comes and goes.
Now, this flickering only appears when component video cables are connected at the same time as the coaxial cable. Once the coaxial cable is unscrewed, the flickering disappears and does not reappear. It also does not occur when composite RCA audio/video cables are used; at the same time as the coaxial cable, or on their own.
I tried everything to pinpoint the source of the problem. Tried new component cables; made no difference. Tried a second, identical Sony DVD player; made no difference. Tried a new splitter; made no difference. Tried a new length of shielded RG6; made no difference.
What the hell is going on?
