How about a review of this player on your new Runco and with the 950 Outlaw?
|
I'd be willing to do this except for a couple of things.
- My Runco CL710c hasn't arrived yet (any month now)
- My Denon 2900 isn't here either.
But for those two minor items, I'm ready to roll.
Seriously, as soon as the 2900 arrives I'll hook it up to the Outlaw 950. As you know I currently use a SONY 9000 for 2 channel SACD and a Panasonic RP-91 for DVD-Audio. The only thing missing from the equation has been Multichannel SACD and once added I would have to deal with a single 5.1 analog input source on the Outlaw 950.
It appears on paper as though the Denon 2900 will solve this issue since it's a universal player (with some other goodies thrown in such as MP3, other playback sources, the Silicon Chip, etc. etc.) And I'm intrigued with the Bass Management possibilities with the 2900 as well. While the Outlaw 950 offers BM it will be interesting to see how the 2900 thrown into the mix adds flexibility for me. The only way to tell is to use it.
I'm going to send one of my two current DVD players (probably the SONY 9000) up to the "secondary" RAF HT (read-"bedroom)" since I still like the auto (sometimes) scaling feature of the RP-91 on the BIG screen. I still hate the fact that the RP-91 doesn't show time elapsed on DVDs but I can live with that since it becomes the lesser used of the two units once the 2900 arrives.
Also, the SONY 9000 added to the bedroom gives me a kick-A CD and SACD (2 channel) source. I've recently upgraded my 2nd system to use my trusty old DENON 5700, purchased an Energy Take 5.2 system with SW and am ready to go with 5.1 surround sound upstairs as well. My current bedroom player, the venerable SONY 7000, becomes Unit #2 when the 9000 goes upstairs. Besides, as you may recall, the 7000 didn't do DTS so the 9000 is a logical choice for that. (And it further justifies my purchase of yet another DVD player - as if I need justification!)
Whatever.
Here we go again!
Now I'm almost rooting for my 27" 12 year old XBR monitor to crap out so I can get a flat screen HDTV capable monitor for HT#2. If I time things right this won't happen until the DISH network introduces their HD capable Model 921 PVR.
So many toys, so little time.
