Sony DVP-NS900V DVD+RW +R Problem

I am trying to play a DVD-RW in my DVP-NS900V and keep getting an error code DISC DIRTY.

This player is listed as compatible with this media type:

I have the NEC 1000A DVD +RW/+R.
I have burned several disc's and they all work fine in my NS900V & Panny RP91.
I have only used Fuji blanks in both +R/+RW format.
Have you tried these disc's in a different player?

I will try it in my 9000ES and my DAV500. Of course, it plays fine on my Sony Vaio.

BTW, the disc is purple in color. What type of DVD is it DVD-RW or DVD-R?

My blanks are also purple in color.
I'm getting a bit confused here.
Do you have a -R/-RW drive or a +R/+RW drive?
There are a few drives that support BOTH media types.
But you must match the media +/- with the drive type.

What is the difference between +/-?

I think the disc is a DVD-R... So I guess it wont work!

Too many different recordable formats!!

I've got Sony players made in 2000 and 2002; they both spin DVD-R, DVD+R, DVD+RW or DVD-RWs just fine.
