Denon 2900

I have a question for you guys, I'm planing on purchasing the new denon 2900 and was wondering if I should use my denon 3300 recievers onboard DD & DTS decoding or should I let the 2900's processor do the work. My thinking is that the newer DAC's would be better but I don't really know.

Hope this wasn't too dumb a question

Are you planning on listening to DVD-Audio or SACD? In which case you pretty much have to use the "external decoder" option on the receiver. Just make sure you use high-quality cables and it should be alright.

I would use the receiver's.
But comparison can't hurt.

Use the receiver for DD/DTS, and use the player for SACD/DVD-A. The receiver should have more options for BM, time alignement, extra DSP, etc.

If it's not worth waiting until the last minute to do, then it's not worth doing.
