In todays business section of the Star-Telegram was a story saying that Murdoch (Fox TV) was buying DirectTV.

So is going to stay.

As far as I understand News Corp bought 34% of Hughes Electronics.

Thanks Patrick. I wonder if this spells bad news for increased HD on DirecTV?

True, but DirectTV is essentially Hughes. So Murdoch is buying DirectTV

Surprise, surprise, surprise. I predicted this as soon as he bowed out in the bid war with DishNet. It was so obvious when he dropped out, then immediatly started trying to get Dish's purchase blocked. With no other potential buyer, he could name his price. Smart business move, but I still dislike Murdoch.

Damn, hope the quality stays the same. DirecTV is the best large company I've ever dealt with.

Evil Murdoch keeping the quality up? Don't make me laugh!

For some reason his company loathes HD, so I'd expect Dish to become the premiere HD company.
