Help......need an answer to the wife's ?

I have pretty much decided to purchase the Pioneer 45 receiver. When showing the wife the unit, she said "the display on the dvd player and this receiver are not the same". Can any one give me some leads for a dvd player with the same "color" display as the Pioneer receiver? Other than the Pioneer 45A dvd player that gets some fairly harsh treatment on this board. Preferably progressive scan without the chroma bug.

My oh my that is soooooooo typical. I sympathize with you Brad. Luckily, I don't have that trouble because everything HT related is hidden in the basement. Sorry, I don't have any advice for you. I just had to reply because I was laughing so hard at the color of the display thing.

She pointed out that the displays are different, but did she really put her foot down over the issue? I would try to talk her a little more about it.

Easier to find a receiver to match the dvd player's display colors... those amber lights on the Pioneer line aren't found on most other makes.

Remember when we used to discuss sound quality and user features?

Oh well... looks count, too.

Brad,

On the VSX45TX remote, press "receiver", the button on the right end, 4th row from top. Now repeatedly press the "1" button (labelled "dimmer" in green above the button).

The display will dim twice (there are 3 levels of brightnesss), then on the 3rd press of the button all of the display will disappear except the volume level reading, which will stay on at a very low level, hardly enough to make a difference just because it's a different color from the dvd player display.

A difference in display color is really an advantage, as it makes it easier to tell which piece of equipment's display your reading in a darkenned room!

I prefer not to push the subwoofers until they\'re properly run in.
