In case you missed the iPhone / iTouch SDK info

Apple hit one out of the park yesterday. This is going to be so cool.

It would be nice to see a preview of what kind of apps will be developed.

They demoed several during the presentation. Not sure how long that link will be good, but for now you can even see it in HD.

And of course, who knows what else developers out there in the rest of the world can come up with?

I'd love to have an app that allowed me to just customize the icons, colors, and simple things like that.

I mean I know that we can rearrange them and all since 1.1.3 but more like the theme packs that jailbroken iphones can do.

Re: In case you missed the iPhone / iTouch SDK info

This is interesting. I'm a 5-year Palm user, my wife a few years longer. Neither of us can consider switching to a new "smartphone" unless it supports the type of applications we use. And as neat as the iPhone is, it's still merely a phone, lacking even rudimentary tools that PDAs have had for over a decade.

But the iPhone is now poised to reinvigorate the moribund PDA / smart-phone niche. This could be very fun.

I think you'll be waiting a while for that. Not for technical reasons but for political ones.

Too bad none of the programs will be able to run in the background.
