Does the HD for time machine need to be larger than the HD in the Mac? My MBP will be 160... I already have a 150 meg external drive (shoulda gone bigger... oh well) and the HD in my desktop is 200.

I'm kind of wondering what my system would be worth if I sold it (which I'm going to as I won't use it anymore)...

It's a DFI LanBoy motherboard (AGP unfortunately)
XFX NVidia 6600GT video card with ???? ram
1 gig ram
200 gig HD
all in an Antec case

I was thinking a couple hundred tops, sans monitor which I"m keeping.

It's necessary to have the Time Machine drive larger than the amount of data you currently have. A starting point is to have a TM drive twice as large as your current used space. So if you've got 80 GB of data, use at least a 160 GB TM drive.

Re: PC guy thinking of making the leap....

I got my "new" MBP today, and so far I love it I have some questions though. I notice there is some trial software preinstalled (Aperture 1.0, Word for Mac 4.0, etc.), that I'd like to remove. Is it just as simple as dragging the icon to the trashcan, or is it a bit more involved?

Also, I have Mail set up to check my Gmail account which is configured for POP access... for some reason though, I'm having trouble sending mail through the SMTP server - the same is true for the .mac SMTP server as well so I'm thinking that there is something configured wrong on my end. I just ran the automatic configuration.

I'm sure I'll have more as I've been using PCs for YEARS

edit: Never mind on the mail problem, I just changed to the alternate port #

Yes you can normally just drag an app to the trash. In Office's case there's an uninstaller though that you should run. If you're really worried about totally getting rid of an app install AppDelete. Its a freeware utility.
