A co-worker having gaming problems

I have turned quite a few people at work away from a PC
and onto a Mac. For the most part, all of them have been
extremely thankful.

One co-worker, based on my advice, recently bought his
daughter a Macbook. He loaded it with 2GB of ram.

The other day he goes out to the store to buy her THE SIMS.
The game box indicates that it is Mac compatible. The problem
began after installation and start of the game where he got
an error message saying "not enough local memory" (or
something to that affect. There was also a message concerning
his video card.

Now, it seems rather odd that a low-intensity game like
THE SIMS is having problems playing on a Macbook -- especially
when there are 2GB of ram installed and I would suspect a
reasonably adequate videocard.

Anyone have any suggestions here?

Re: A co-worker having gaming problems

If it's The Sims 2, there's a patch (released Nov 2007) Not saying that it will resolve this issue, but it could be an problem with PowerPC emulation. The patch includes a Universal Binary, among other things.

Re: A co-worker having gaming problems

Jeremy,

Thank you so very much. I have passed this along to
my co-worker. Will let you know if it works.
