iWeb tinkering

I used the web space provided by my ISP to put up a little page of my audio/video equipment. On my WinPC I use to use Irfanview to start my photo album page then MS Word 2002 to modify it to look halfway decent. Today I decided to play with iWeb (in iLife 06) for the first time to recreate my page and publish it to my site. I don't have a .mac account so I used File>Publish to a Folder to export it to a folder on my macbook then used the Firefox extension FireFTP to upload it to my site. You can also use Easy iWeb Publisher, I tried it too and it works.

HERE is what my old looks like.

HERE is what my iWeb designed site looks like.

It's just a rough draft to a very simple site just to try out iWeb so it's not fancy or pretty. .

Fun! You have quite the assortment of remotes. What's your favorite?

I use CyberDuck for Mac FTP. It's free and has worked well.

I'd have to say the URC TX-1000.

I had planned on trying CyberDuck but Tuesday was the first day I made any changes to my site since I got my macbook so hadn't needed to use an ftp client. I read iWeb wouldn't allow publishing to a site other than .mac so I downloaded Easy iWeb Publisher just incase.

Daryl,

Quite an improvement.

I'm sure you have noticed that here at HTF I use iWeb to create
all our EVENT pages including the recent SIMPSONS and EMA
coverage.

Post on the HTFEvents tab at the very top of this page (right)
and take a look.

I love the simplicity of iWeb, though it has its limitations. There
isn't much room to go crazy with it, but the job gets done and the
sites look quite good.

Congrats!

I had seen that. I would not have known you did it in iWeb had you not said so. LOL my site looks like beginners patch work. I dread not being able to changed themes easy though wouthout starting from scratch. BUT! thanks to a Christmas gift I got to add a Toshiba HD-A3 HD-DVD to my photo page today.

I used CyberDuck today and liked it. Making it my default ftp client. It connect faster than Easy iWeb Publisher too. Being use to two panes though, one for local files and one for remote files CyberDuck confused me at first.

Re: iWeb tinkering

I found CyberDuck's unusual interface confusing too. But it's the best freebie FTP program I've found on the Mac. (I'm too spoiled by all the free FTP apps on Windows to pay for one on the Mac)
