Mac software to manipulate photos and such?

I need a piece of Mac software, very much in the likeness
of Paint Shop (or perhaps Publisher) that will allow me to
take a photo and manipulate it for upcoming banners I would
like to place on HTF.

By manipulate, I mean perhaps taking an established sign
and erasing words out of it and adding our own text.

In short, a program that allows you to erase or add text or
image elements to existing photos.

I haven't looked at iPhoto yet, which comes standard on my
Mac Pro. Perhaps that is the program I need or maybe you
have another in mind? I have Photoshop, but it is much too
complex for my task.

Thanks in advance!

I switched from Paint Shop Pro 8 to Photoshop for those types of requirements. Photoshop isn't that much more complex then PSP though it takes me longer to get things done in photoshop at the moment just b/c I'm not as familar with it. There's always GIMP

I've always been partial to GraphicConverter which is probably as full featured a piece of shareware as you'll find. Actually you can download and use it for free with the only restriction being that the unlicensed version doesn't do batch processing of files. But it's been so useful to me I was only too happy to fork over my 30 bucks to Thorsten Lemke at Macworld last month.

photoshop is very powerful, but it's also easy to use. if you already have a photo editor that will do what you need, just use that.

Agree with CJ - if you have PS, use it. Text is just a layer when you make it. Drag it around, change size, color, edit.

Easy Really
