BootCamp / Parallels question

Guys anyone have an idea what the problem might be? I installed XP Pro in a 10 gig partition and then installed Parallels to use that same partition. It all works fine unless I plug in one of my external USB harddrives (formatted in NTFS). If that drive is plugged in I get the following error..

Quote:
More than one Windows partitions are found. This is not a standard Boot Camp configuration. Please refer to the Parallels Desktop for Mac User Guide, Using Boot Camp Windows XP Installation chapter for instructions on how to configure Parallels virtual machine in case of a non-standard Boot Camp configuration on your Macintosh computer.

As soon as i unplug it I'm allowed to boot windows in Parallel again? Also if I do unplug it and boot into XP under Parallels and then plug in the drive it doesn't show up at all? I'm using the most recent version of Parallels as well.

Update. I formatted the drive to MacOSX and it now boots into windows fine. The drive still doesn't show up but that's alright for the time being as I intend to turn it into a NAS drive shortly.

Re: BootCamp / Parallels question

I would guess it was some combination of two NTFS partitions (like the error said) and not distinguishing/supporting USB drives as well as it might. You should report this problem to the folks at Parallels; tell them how you think it should work, and maybe they can tell you why it doesn't
