Re: Grammar/Vocabulary ???
Another thanks for the thread reminder Mike—even though I was on the wrong side of the Barry Bonds debate (although not on the wrong side of the steroids question).
I do find it interesting that Diallo states that he is a paragon of grammatical virtue in his professional writing, leading me to conclude that coding has no more disabled his use of the shift key than Jeff or many others who contribute to this forum while writing code.
As an aside, I got into the business so long ago that I’d have an excuse for writing in 1s & 0s (and as the joke goes, we were so poor we could not afford the 1s).

Re: Grammar/Vocabulary ???
Ok, I am going to make a confession here. Throughout school, I stunk at handwriting, spelling & grammar. Straight Ds & Fs. I always managed to squeak by and not have to do the summer school thing. I went through vocational school and eventually became a journeyman tool & die maker. I figured no writing involved in that. In the early 90s, I applied for a job that required testing. I scored a 99 on the mechanical aptitude and a 98 on the math. My spelling and sentence structure scores were in the 20s.
I am lucky that the timing of computers matched my transition into management. My best friend and biggest helper in my career are the F7 spellchecker and grammar suggestions. If not for them, I know that I would definitely be still running machines at 30% less than I make now. Although, I have the project management, leadership, and many other skills, my lack of communication skills with writing would have killed my advancement.
Posting on the HTF and reading the other posts has not only helped me learn about HT, silica, and how to build a theater, it has also given me an opportunity to practice my writing skills. This post, as with other long posts, I usually type in MSWord and paste it into the forum. In typing, this post I misspelled at least three dozen words, had 7 commas inserted and changed 3 words entirely. So if I go through this much troubles to be courteous to those who read my posts, I don’t think it is too much trouble for others to hit the shift key once and a while. I also proof read this post 4 times and made changes.
By the way, I created my first web page this year. I learned quickly that it is better not to use any capitals when typing the HTML code.
Hey, No wonder the water don't work! This pipe is full of wires!!

Re: Grammar/Vocabulary ???
I know when I first started posting here, Jeff Gatie took the time to PM me about my punctuation and spacing skills to give me advice. I still suck, but now at least you can understandably read how much I suck. Thank You Jeff! Jeff is also available for personal instruction. He charges by the hour and requires all food and travel expenses to be paid as well Kidding, just kidding.
" I think it's time we go to plan B". "What's plan B?" "That's the one where we don't do something stupid".

Dave: I don't know what to say about that. I am very impressed and humbled that you work so hard and take such care when posting on the HTF. Congratulations to you for sticking to it and improving your skills while efforting (there's a new verb for ya!) to communicate better with those around you!

And, likewise, this post blew my mind--for a number of different reasons. But congratulations to both Jeff (for making a difference) and Troy (for working to improve your skills)!
Those are a couple of amazing stories back-to-back in this thread. Very cool! Reason #23 why I love the HTF.
And, Dave...that silica reference made me snort some soda!
There's Jessie the yodeling cowgirl. Bullseye, he's Woody's horse. Pete the old prospector. And, Woody, the man himself. Of course, it's time for Woody's RoundUp. He's the very best! He's the rootinest, tootinest cowboy in the wild, wild west!

I don't know how you guys feel, but I think we just had one of those rare warm fuzzy HTF moments. I feel a group hug coming on!!

Ahhh yes, the "if you think it's correct, that's all that matters because we don't want anyone to feel inferior" school of thought. An entire generation of kids didn't learn math and spelling in California (and other places) because of this theory. Good luck with that.
Seriously, using all small letters is decidedly not understandable. Even leaving out punctuation is preferable. Anything more than a couple sentences in all lower case and, at least in my experience, people stop reading.

I am not above the "loose/lose" thing but thanks for the kind words .

I'm humbled Troy, but glad to be of help.
As far as personal instruction is concerned, I'll just echo Dave's advice about the grammar and spellchecker. Lord knows I misspell words all the time. Just check my posts for edits and 99% of the time it is due to a misspelled word that I caught upon re-reading. I guess I'm a better proofreader than I am a writer.
