Hookahs

Any fans? I just ordered this baby:



(w/ painted vase)

It will be my second, which I intend to use. I got my first one in Casablanca a year ago, it's 22" I think, looks Syrian (female vase). I've never got around to using it, and the clay top is chipped anyway, so I would have to replace that first.

My next purchase will be a Hobohookah.

Just wondering if any HTFers were into these things. Any good dedicated forums to recommend?

Serious queery......what do you somke in those things? Is it like a pipe grade tobacco? Is the point of the water to tone down harsh leaf grades or?

Not to answer for Holadem but the only thing I've ever known someone to smoke from a hookah is pot. Not that you can't use it for tobacco but hookahs are way too much money to use for just tobacco.

An Algerian girlfriend introduced me to hookahs in Paris 2 years ago. Lots of hookah lounges there. When I came back to the US, I was pleasantly surprised to see that it was a growing phenomenon here. Hookah lounges are easy to find in big cities, and reportedly in college towns. But there are none in my area, so after yet another Paris trip where I winded down from most nights in hookah lounges (more like early morning), I am getting a pipe.

It's a great way to chill when you have friends over. On the other hand, it's something to be used only occasionally for this non-smoker (cigs), as the amount of nicotine and other harmful crap (tar) one absorbs during a single session (about an hour) is I believe equivalent to many cigarettes (contrarly to the bizarre belief one comes across every once in a while that it's somehow nicotine/tar free or less harmful).

Last, they just look awesome .

It looks very cool, but in my experience, I have never seen anyone smoke anything but weed in those things. I've been tolde they are very good to use while listening to a little George Harrison.

So in a hookah lounge, you huffing with friends, do you generally all share the same mouth piece? I'll never find out first hand here in Kaleefornia. Many moons ago, we just made one out of a 5 gallon Sparklets bottle with a hersey can for a bowl....plastic tubing for five. Pink Floyd was good then too.....side two of the first album....Interstellar Overdrive.

This is about as far out in left field as I can get, but the second I saw the name of this thread what immediately popped into my mind was...
