You can tell what God thinks of money by who He gives it to - case study no. 1
I swear I am not making the following up.
I went to my local golf driving range the other day and there in the car park was a brand new Ferrari. Getting out of car were a father and son dressed - how shall we say? - not quite in keeping with the car (indeed, a mechanic working on the car would probably look smarter). They had with them absolutely brand new top of the range mudwrestle-your-own-grandmother-to-own-them clubs.
The two of them are there for a lesson. As the father was announcing in a loud voice, he'd come into a lot of money, and he and Junior wanted to play golf. Okay, says the pro, let's go and hit a few practice shots, and they go into the 'booth' next to mine. The son goes first - he runs up to the ball and attempts to hit it like it's field hockey ... Dad is videoing this with an [expensive, naturally] video camera and says 'good shot, son' as the ball goes in a banana curve about 20 yards. The pro keeps a straight face and says 'I think we'll take you somewhere a bit more secluded' and leads them off.
Now I'm all for people from all walks of life playing golf, and I think it's a bane of the sport that it has a snobbish cliquish image [often deserved]. But quite how stupid do you have to be not to know even the most basic information about how you hit a golf ball?

Screw the golf. How the heck does one become that stinking rich overnight?
P.S. My handicap is down to single digits (9.1) for the first time in my life, and I'm in the field for the Georgia Public Links in 2½ weeks. Life is good.

Congrats, Julian! I just got mine into single digits for the first time this year, too. Unfortunately, it's creeping back up near 10 again.
As to the subject of the thread (and keeping this home theater related), was the guy's name Al Czervik?

Already our minds are thinking as one ... That is *exactly* what I thought, but no, they were too 'real' for it to be a wind-up.
Me English, me no understand.

Congratulations! Mine is 12.3. I started playing again after a thirty year gap earlier this year. Last time I played I was on 8 (but more by luck than anything).
The horrible thing about being on a single figure handicap is you get this silly dread of slipping back into double figures. For some reason, going from 9.9 to 10.1 seems far far worse than going from 15.1 to 19.7.

Oh, I know my HC will be back in double digits shortly. During the winter, it usually goes up at least 5 points.
I'm just going to savor it while it lasts.

In reference to the title of this thread:so you`re saying that if you don`t dress nice,or know how to play golf, then you`re not deserving of Gods love?

Yeah, I kind of got what he was referring to but agree that maybe the title was off a bit. I think what he means is that sometimes people are given money that cannot handle it or the responsibility it brings with it. A good example is "The Beverly Hillbillies", that show used to infuriate me instead of make me laugh most of the time; Jethro can't go get a car without trading in the jalopy, granny out washing clothes in the "cement pond", etc. etc.
I think these people are the type that can't handle it and will be broke in the end, think about it, whats the first thing they did? They bought a flashy car that just screams rich and proceeded to act like a couple of asses, Caddy Shack also comes to mind here. Either that or these two have seen "Happy Gilmore" a few times too many!
I know enough to know I don't know enough!

So if people don't know how to play golf BEFORE they learn to play golf, they're not deserving of a lot of money???
