Fradulent Credit Card Charges

On the same day two separate credit card charges from Singlesnet and Match.com showed up on our credit card. Sheesh. I've already called the CC company to dispute them.

Another cat? Perhaps. For love there is also a season; its seeds must be resown. But a family cat is not replaceable like a wornout coat or a set of tires. Each new kitten becomes its own cat, and none is repeated. I am four cats old, measuring out my life in friends that have succeeded but not replaced one another.--Irving Townsend

Re: Fradulent Credit Card Charges

Good luck. I too had an issue with my VISA check card. I was getting charges made in France to some cell phone companies. Seems that my card number may have been compromised when the holding company for TJ Maxx, Home Goods, and Marshalls "lost" some account info. My credit union promptly cancelled the card and refunded all the bogus charges. I was made "whole" within a week. This was customer service at its finest.

I believe under the Fair Credit Reporting Act (may want to do a Google search) you need to reduce them to writing (vs. call) in something like 60 days otherwise you're stuck. Those singles sites are noted for lots of fraud or at least stretching the truth, most of which has nothing to do with credit cards

The CC company will mail me a form to fill out. In the past I have had to write my own letter and mail it to them. We monitor our card on almost a daily basis so if we see any more we'll know we have to cancel the card and get a new one.

I was going to recommend checking your credit reports to make sure that no one has stolen your identity. You probably still should, just to be sure there aren't any other accounts that you don't know of that have been opened under your name.

That is a good idea. Anyone remember the url of the free credit report site from the different credit reporting companies?

Here's the FTC page on obtaining your free credit report:
http://www.ftc.gov/bcp/conline/pubs/...eereports.shtm

Be wary of any that make you sign up for a bunch of other shit in order to get it.

Re: Fradulent Credit Card Charges

I was able to do the Experion report quickly and easily. Transunion, that's another matter. Every time I try over the past 2 days they say they are experiencing longer than normal wait times and try again in 30 minutes.

Looks like Transunion doesn't really want to give a free credit report.

Re: Fradulent Credit Card Charges

I've taken advantage of my right to a free credit report from the big three reporting agencies and I haven't had a single problem. It took me less than 15 minutes for to get all three. Since I'm applying for a mortgage I needed to see if there were any problems and fortunately there were none.
