Closet Organizers

I'm curious about closet organizers. my closet is getting too small for the stuff that goes in there.

I was at Ikea the other day and they had a couple of good storage options:

PAX http://www.ikea.com/webapp/wcs/store...hapterId=15861

Stolmen

now, of course I have a closet space now, but I understand I can take out the rods and shelves and dividers and put stuff in there. I was thinking of using a combination of the above, as the PAX will be quite pricey. However I like the ideas of tie shelf with 12 tie pockets, pull out pants hanger for my dress pants, wire baskets that slide out, two rods hung vertically... possibly a mirror...

any experience with these or others? the Pax would have to be bracketed to the wall, the stolmen is bolted to the ceiling.

I need the help of Marla the virgin on Seinfeld...

Are you very fussy about your pants?
Because I have a very radical idea. Can you handle it?
Here's what I'm proposing. We eliminate all this. The hangers, the bar, the shelves. And in its place install a series of hooks. We'll put everything on hooks.
Everything. The shirts, pants, sport jackets, pajamas. We could get eighty hooks on here.

You're quite mad, you know.

Re: Closet Organizers

The only problem with the pre-fab organizers, at least in my situation, is that they only "sort of" fit the existing closet. I had one custom made and installed that was something along the lines of #2. Set of dresser drawers, movable bars for shirts and pants, lots of shelves for shoes (also adjustable for boots, etc) a slide out desk top and space for a 19" LCD TV in a closet 3 feet deep and about 7 feet wide. It almost tripled the amount of garmet space and the TV and work area were a bonus. Cost was about $700 and it utilizes every square inch of space. It's all ?melamine? surface laminated and I could choose from about 100+ finishes from stark white to woodlike surface. Wipes off with a damp cloth. Took my wife almost a year to fill it up so now I guess we'll have to move.
