Where can I get a quality cell phone for a good price, without having to

sign up for a subscription? I got a real nice phone when I signed up. Price was about $80. Then I lost the phone. Damn! To get the same phone will cost me at least $250,since the low price was only with new sign-ups.

Thanks,

Are you still under contract?

You can get a bunch of decent deals from providers pre-pay plans, and then just move the SIM card over from your existing phone as long as they are from the same service provider - or you can get the phone unlocked and use it with any provider that uses that same cell technology.

If you lost the whole phone, I guess call your provider and see if they will at least sell you a new SIM card for $30 or so, then you can put it in the new phone.

I still have the SIM card, been using it in my old phone. The only 2 things I really liked about the lost phone is Blue Tooth and much longer battery time. The old phone doesn't have BT. Yes I'm still under contract. I've been scouring eBay for a late model unlocked phone.

Thanks

If your contract is with Cingular or Tmobile, you should be able to buy one of their prepay phones and use your SIM.

Right now Cingular has the L7 SLVR with iTunes, a 512MB memory card, camera, bluetooth, etc for $89.99. (its not accessible from their front page, but it is available thru here)

http://www.cingular.com/cell-phone-s..._sku=sku430003

The phone can be unlocked using the services on eBay where you just give them your IMEI number and they give you the unlock code. Its pink, but you can also get new housing for cheap from http://www.cnn.cn. I recently got an L6 SLVR from Cingular for prepaid and have loved it.

Try Craig's list for your area. Ours has quite a few phones, some new.
