Zitt cream that's worked for you...

It's highly degrading to be 28 and still get zitts now and then, mostly they pop up on the nose, but the rest of my face doesn't exactly look clear, either, despite no zitts being on it.

Anything good we can get at K-Mart that would work within a two week time period or so to start clearing things up?

OR some kind of cream that repairs skin and is known to work?

We used Crest toothpaste in high school. Seemed to work. A little conspicuous for an adult, though.

I hear good things about that Proactiv. My son is using it, and there is an improvement.

Toothpaste actually works as it "dries" up the pimple faster than anything out there. Any of those ointments with benzoyl peroxide would also work and goind even tougher on acne is the use of clindamycin cream.
If its been botheing u for quite a while, consult ur dermatologist as it may look like acne but maybe rosacea...especially when u say the rest of ur face "isn't" clear.

You could try this..though it's expensive. Works for me. Good for single isolated pimples.. since you apply heat, via the device, for a couple of minutes to each pimple.

But, it does leave a red circle (minor burn) for a few hours. And, despite what the website says, it is not painless. In fact, it's hot.

My sis just bought the Zeno thing, has yet to find out if it works or not. The user reviews on Amazon are very positive, but they should be for a $150+ device.

On a more practical note, do you wash your face with soap & water before bed?

Don't laugh, but Maalox works. I wouldn't put it on before going out in public, though.

Re: Zitt cream that's worked for you...

My acne as a teen wasn't too severe, but it had it's moments. The only thing that worked for me consistently was recommended by my doctor at the time. Pernox medicated facial scrub. (The only links I can find are Bizrate, etc.)

I snapped into the habit of scrubbing my face with it in the shower every morning and I had a complete turnaround. Since then, I've migrated to the non-medicated apricot stuff, but I rarely miss a morning.

It's a little expensive for a non-prescription item...$19 or so for a 4 ounce tube, but it was worth it. The only other thing I do for the occasional pop up is some Sea Breeze astringent before bed.

I also found that you have to be conscious about touching your own face. The transfer of oils can contribute to the problem.

Good luck.

Re: Zitt cream that's worked for you...

I just bought the Zeno for my fiancee. It works well if you catch the pimple early, while its still forming. The heat will kill the bacteria and stop it from growing any bigger. If it gets to the dreaded whitehead, the Zeno doesn't seem to be much help.

I had acne pretty bad in high school. Nothing worked so I went with the last resort which was Accutane. Obviously you probably don't need to go to that extreme just letting you know I tried practically everything at one point and time.

I still get them occasionally (I"m 29). When I do, I use Neutrogena On-the-spot and it usually does the trick.

If you can control the oil on your skin you can usually have control over the pimples. But at the same time, you don't want to overly dry your face out either. Over the last year or so I have started using a Mary Kay face wash and lotion that has worked wonders both controlling the oil and controlling my pimples. It has also helped reverse the aging of my skin from the many many hours I have been in the sun playing golf.

Good luck to you.

Re: Zitt cream that's worked for you...

Can't remember who asked earlier, but sometimes I will hold my head up with my hand (hand and fingers under chin/left side of face. Oddly enough, now that I look at it, that does seem to be the more ugly side. But I do wash my face every night via nice relaxing shower .

I'm heading out to A and P today....can't remember how to get to CVS, and it's way too cold and windy to walk....so we'll see if anything you guys mentioned is on the shelves there.

One reason why I would like to try and clear it up, is I'm going to a live radio broadcast next weekend with lots of people there (being held at a bowling alley, of all things). I'd like to at least get the nose under control with the zitts if nothing else, because they pop up there most...

I don't want to be talking to someone, and then realize I have a zitt they are looking at .

Not sure what your feelings are on it, but for my shoulder/upper back and slight face acne, the best treatment is a session in a tanning bed.

Everything dries right up, and I have a little tan to go along with it...
