Does X69 work on Cell phones?

I'm getting some weird messages on my cell....obviously someone with a middle eastern type accent is giving out the wrong cell phone number, and his number must be similar to mine.

The first guy who called twice spoke English...but heavily accented. When I picked up the second time, and hung up, he must have realized from my hello that he called the wrong number and I have not heard from him since.

Just now, I listened to a message I didn't check before, and I get a lady on the end also in a middle eastern sounding accent. I get a bunch of foreign language speak, and she ends the call with...'goodbye, baby' in English. Obviously this guy has not been giving out the right number again, but they must have heard my phones answering message, yet still left something on the machine?

Can you do a X69? Next time I get a number I don't recognise, I'm going to see if the phone company can block it or something and maybe he'll give out the correct number next time to another of his relatives .

Or he's giving out the right one and his friends are writing it down wrong.

1. Don't you have caller ID?

2. I suspect that whether or not you can do a "*69" or simiilar call-back will depend on your service providers. (*69 is not universally the code for this feature among landline providers in the U.S., for instance.)

Seems to me that this would be a better question for your cellphone company than for the HTF. Also seems to me that you could answer your own question with regards to *69 by simply trying it the next time you get a call from known party, or by calling your cell from your landline. (Something I've been known to do when I misplace my cell. )

Couldn't it be spam too? I mean, randomly calling and perhaps getting your cell number which they now know is a legit number...

Maybe you're "Jenny". Some guy just wrote a "made up" cell phone number of the wall of the mens' room at some club popular with middle eastern types and now you're getting the calls.

HEh, could be, with regard to bathroom stall numbers. But that means I got a foreign lesbian calling me that one time .

In regards to my phone provider, I'm on Verizon Wireless. I'll have to see what they offer in terms of call allowing/blocking.

Anyway, she may not be a lesbian. Could be a jealous wife or girlfriend who found a scrap of paper with the number scribbled on it in her guy's jeans.

If any phone company ever gives you "Jenny's" number, in any area code, demand that they change it. Immediately.

At least one person who had "Jenny's" number received all kinds of obscene phone calls, because the idiots who wrote that song ignored phone company advice to use only 555- prefixes for fictional phone numbers. And because some cretins who listened to the song couldn't distinguish fiction from reality.

Joseph mentioned this in the first reply, but you never answered. Why would you want to *69 a number you don't recognize? If you say you don't recognize it, then you obviously have the phone number. So why not just pull up the number and hit send? No need for *69.

If this becomes a real problem, I'd change your cell number. Since it sounds like several people calling you, you might not be able to block every wrong number.
