Don't laugh at animals

Know that I mean no offense by asking this Jack, but why close the thread about the cat. While laughing at a poor distressed cat directly might be seen as bad by some, what is it hurting to laugh at the noise it makes while not it's presence. Sure animals have feelings, but the cat isn't going to access the net and find out. I am an animal lover as well, but cats and other animals do strange things when put into situations such as the one Burgers&Fries is in.

Would shinning a laser pointer on the floor and the cat chasing it with no means of success be considered mistreatment. I know that this isn't the same, but just curious.

Please, Please don't take offense, I just want your perspective.

Sorry Jack, I put the wrong name in, but changed it when I realized my mistake.

Re: Don't laugh at animals

I'm with you Seth. I love animals as well, and while I don't find it funny to torture an animal, there are some things that they do that are just funny (regardless of the circumstances).

I doubt anyone was laughing at the abuse the cat may have been subjected to, they were just amused by it's unusual screeching. It's sad to compare any amusement of the cats screech to amusement of the torture it may have been through. Two totally separate things!

It's like those web sites that make you concentrate and then scare the crap out of you with a screaming ghoul. Those are so cruel, but they're SO funny to watch people jump out of their skin.

"Laughing at animals" isn't the problem. The problem is the circumstances surrounding the video in question.

Man, an hour wasted on this sig! Thanks, Toshiba! :p

Re: Don't laugh at animals

Here is the best way I can explain it, before this thread also gets closed.

I have seen news footage of a mother making basically the same sound that cat made, right after she discovered her child has been killed. Is that also funny also? It's the same sound, and the argument is that it is the sound which is funny. I'm not trying to be inflammatory, just giving an explanation.

The people (like myself) who have not been amused by the cat are not amused because they are seeing what has caused the behavior, rather than just being amused by a strange sound.

They flutter behind you, your possible pasts.
Some bright-eyed and crazy, some frightened and lost.
