Gah! MSN's home page just spoiled a pretty major event in the Marvel universe that, while not completely unexpected, I had managed to avoid up until now.
Spoiler:
Captain America appears to be assassinated in Cap#25 this week!

With regards to that spoiler
Spoiler:
I had thought/guessed that Captain America was going to be killed at the end of Civil War. I find it weird that Marvel didn't go with what would have been a bigger (and more emotional) finale in the major cross over event of the year and then two weeks later kill him off.
EDIT: I just saw the headline on MSN's site, I highly recommend avoiding the site all together if you want to remain spoiler free about the character in question.

Re: Comics: The Weekly Rundown (was Heroes Con 2006)

Since I knew about the spoiler, thanks to the media coverage, I decided to go in early to my LCS to see if I could find a copy (I sort of just wanted to flip through it since I don't normally even buy/read the title). So I show up at lunch time, normally I show up after work, but they were all sold out according to the placard in the shelf space for the issue. I've been going to this store for over 10 years, and have cultivated a business relationship with most of the gang that works at the LCS, so I did luck up, as the store thinned out a little bit, when the manager slipped a copy towards me after I observed him telling multiple callers and casual walk-ins that they were sold out (he even had one caller curse him out for not having the issue in stock when he called), but still managed to put aside a few copies for his long-standing customers who didn't have the title on their pull sheet (I don't have any titles on a pull sheet, but I am pretty regular in what I pick up on a weekly basis). So it pays to have LCS friends looking out for you when they can during these media-driven (slow news day, obviously) shortages of key issues.

I don't have the issue on my pull list but I fully expect my store to be sold out and unfortunately not holding a copy for me. I'd love to be surprised, but...

Walking Dead #35 came out last week and I was so excited to read it. Then, as I'm checking out, the guy running the shope mentions that they had some problems with the issue where some pages went missing. He checks mine and sure enough, they are gone. So, no zombie-killing newness for me .

Any thoughts on World War Hulk? Based on the story, I'm pretty interested in it. I've seen the preview though, and it is John Romita Jr. doing the art. I am not a huge fan of his and even worse, his Hulk just looks plain bad. I'm leaning towards taking a pass on this one.

World War III is another one I can't quite figure out if I want to get. Correct me if I am wrong - this is basically a war against Black Adam, right? And it fits into continuity with 52? So, in a sense, the story is already over in current continuity? As much as I have liked the Black Adam portions of 52, if the story is already over then I don't feel like I need to read it.

Couple quickies to end this: What's up with the one-page ad DC has been running in their books with what looks like a number of Kingdom Come-ish characters? And (this may be related for all I know) who's going to keep up with Countdown?

*shrug* I'm sure he'll be back eventually but after the way he was utterly emasculated during and after Civil War (or some I've heard), it's probably the best thing for him

Given that they do want to make a movie with this character, I'm sure he will be back sooner or later.

Spoiler:
It actually makes me wonder if all the speculation about him being Ronin in the New Avengers is correct. Marvel themselves have been hyping that, so I discounted the possibility at first, but maybe...

One rumor is that the multiverse is coming back to DC, and the characters from Kingdom Come will be sliding on over into the normal DC universe. The restart of JSA has been hinting this in its 3 issues since its relaunch.

Well, Marvel probably will have a second, third and fourth printing (with either a sketch cover or some type of alternate covers) out in a week or two and a trade in a month so you won't have to wait that long.

EDIT: And I forgot the Director's Cut.
