What to do with old vhs tapes & plastic cases?

I have 100's of old vhs tapes & plastic cases from when I would tape tv shows. Now that most of the shows are on dvd. I have a bunch of useless tapes. I use some of them...but most are just in boxes. I know I can't sell them for anything. And throwing them away seems wasteful. Just curious if anyone else has this problem and maybe a solution?

Bring back John Doe! Or at least resolve the cliff-hanger with a 2hr movie or as an extra on a dvd release.

OK, seriously.

Give them as gifts in the next "White Elephant" office Xmas party. Put them on eBay as "retro" media. Leave them at your friends' houses and deny all knowledge. Balance that wobbly table. Garage sale. Use instead of toilet paper when you attack your neighbor's trees next Halloween. Melt them down and make "modern" sculpture art or guitar picks or false nails for your girlfriend. Time capsule. Donate them to the library or hospital or local asylum. Fishing net weights (a lot of them, together, I mean). Give them to the neighborhood kids to destroy in inventive ways. Steam them for a delicate treat.

Um...

Rip out the tape from the cassettes and you got yourself a nice shiny suit.
