Pronouncing "film noir"

Understanding the concept should be enough, if we can ever achieve that. But have you ever tried to say it out loud? What's preferred...
"film nwah" ?
"film noyer" (Midwest) ?
"film noyah" (Eastern seaboard) ?

I say "nwahr"

p.s. I've always said it quickly (especially when talking about Pinot Noir) because I'm never sure on the right way either.

EDIT: According to dictionary.com:
(nwär)

I'm of French descent and it drives me nuts when people pronounce it like nar instead of nwah! It means black or dark. Bonsoir!!!!!!!

I pronounce it "nwarrrrgggghhh."

Kind of unconventional.

haha.

You know what's funny, I live in Montreal (Quebec) and speak a limited ammount of French - emough to get by with the average stranger I'll encounter on the street, but for the life of me I can't pronounce the street name that I live on!

St-Ambroise.

My sister jokingly says that it should be pronounced St-Amggggggrrrroise.

I usually end up calling it St-Ambwoise, but than it sounds so ridiculous that I'm embarassed when people asking me this out loud.

I try to roll my "r" - St-Ambrrrroise" but than I end up sounding like a complete idiot, like some medieval European swashbuckler. So I just don't say my street name.

The last incident this occured in, was when I had to return an electronic razor and the store asked for my address for the warranty receipt. I had to repeat it 3 times cause the woman didn't understanbd what I was saying. :b

I'm from Boston (thusly, I never pronounce an 'r' as in "Pahk the Cah") and I pronounce it "nwahr", with just the slight hint of two syllables. I can see "Nwah" or even "No Are", but let's face it - "Noyer" is just plain silly.
