When the tides of fortune turn: or, maybe I should buy a lottery ticket

Well, I suppose that if I am going to bemoan my personal tragedies as if the HTF After Hours is my personal blog, I should also share some good news at long last.

What a week it has been! I got a call on Monday from a gal who had been to my open house three weeks prior, who offered full asking price. Woo-hoo!

I was on cloud nine, or so I thought, until afternoon. I have been trying to get ahold of the person at the state who is responsible for adoption assistance for helping New Mexico's special needs adoptions for extreme care situations. I found a program that is almost tailor made for my son, but it is residential, out of state, and will last fourteen months. I had no idea whether they would pay or not. The call was essentially to tell me, "No problem. Whatever he needs, we will cover.". My jaw was on the flor...easily the best news of the week.

Minor, but on the same day, was finding two motorcycle reviews in one magazine of the two bikes I had narrowed down to. One costs $7k, the other costs $13k. The $7k bike was rated to do a better job of what I want that the $13k bike. Bonus.

Then, I discussed puting my Mustang up for sale with a gal at work. She says that she wants to work out a deal. What kind of deal? Well, she wants to buy my car for $16k (I owe $21k), and the rest would be a trade for her 1970 Olds Cutlass convertible, which is in great condition. I've had my eye on this for a while. Yeah, we would have to do some bank paperwork juggling, but I would drop from a $21k car note to a $5k car note, still have a convertible, as well as a toy, that might possibly supplant a motorcycle, for modding. Whoo!

"Okay," I thought, "the week CAN'T possibly get any better.

I was wrong.

I got a call from my ex to tell me that his department is going to be taken over by a private contractor, and he is going to be transferred to Phoenix.

House sold (and yes, she's approved), car sold (likely), get my hands on the sweet Olds, my son's needs are going to be taken care of, the cheaper bike is the better one for me, and NO MORE EX IN THIS TOWN!!!

Either I should buy a lottery ticket, or the apocalypse will be here any minute.

Well, I just wanted to share this instead of my usual whining. I am doing the happy dance!

Congratulations. I'd ask you to post further, but the stress will probably cause an as-of-yet dormant brain embalys to burst and cause a stroke that would leave you a vegetable..... And the ambulance would be right behind a Best Buy delivery truck when the door mechanism failed and a palate of 60" Plasmas landed in the road.

"Did you know that more people are murdered at 92 degrees Fahrenheit than any other temperature? I read an article once. Lower temperatures, people are easy-going, over 92 and it's too hot to move, but just 92, people get irritable."

When things are going well, you never brag about how well things are going. I think everyone makes this mistake at least once.

Doing that will usually bring on the misery and your bubble of luck will burst. Married with Children and a variety of other shows had episodes about this.
