Of all the websites on the Internet, I really like the Home Theater Forum. I've used the forum's collective knowledge of electronics to research such topics as DLP projectors, subwoofers, receivers, cables, HDTV, and DVD players among others. I've enjoyed the many debates over speaker wire (Monster Cable vs. lamp cord), DTS vs. Dolby Digital, dvd vs. laserdisc, the price/performance ratio of Bose speakers, and the pros and cons of recievers with an integrated amp. I've learned more than I wanted to on woofer and subwoofer design, amplifiers, surround sound system setup, RPTV (rear projection television) color convergence, and color temperature (thanks to Video Essentials). I was the first in my neighborhood with a DVD player (a Panasonic A310), I educated my neighbors about the merits of the impending switch to digital TV and how soon they will all own a widescreen TV just like my Toshiba TW40X81 with which they would watch their (prerecorded) DVDs and OTA broadcast HDTV. Of course, I did not foresee the consumer electronics revolution that would bring us such things as the plasma display, LCD monitors, and affordable premium HDTV programming (1080i and 720p) via digital cable or satellite, TiVo, SACD, DVD-A, and cheap DVD recorders (the last time I checked the price on a DVD recorder, they were hovering around $1000--now you can find some less than $200).

And I have all this knowledge thanks to the HTF. If there were only some way I could repay the creators of this great forum--perhaps by creating a post of nothing but sponsored links...

Nah. That would be too hard.

Anyway, thanks HTF!

-Mike

(EDIT: Hmmm... not all the iTXT keywords are highlighted. Perhaps there is a limit to the number of links displayed. To see all of the "Sponsored Link" keywords, point your browser to Vibrant Media JavaScript source).

Okay... this didn't work at all.

In case you have no idea to what I am referring, the HTF has a new "IntelliText" advertising system. Basically, it searches for keywords in posts and linkifies them so that when you hover your mouse over them, they display an ad (sponsored link). (More info in this thread).

My post was an attempt to exploit this system to create a post of nothing but sponsored links, but I have been thwarted by a competent JavaScript programmer who limited the number of ads that can be displayed on any single page.

In other words:

Nothing to see here. Move along. :b

So you're not thankful to the HTF then either?
You were just playing us with a false sense of thanks just to exploit the system?

I'm hurt!

Everything I wrote in my original post was true... but it was specially crafted to exploit the ad-bot.

I really do love the HTF. [Apple iPod]

No. Really. [AV receiver]

I was thinking of trying to exploit it the opposite way, by putting a period or space in the middle of the "hot" words.

Until I saw the second post I was about to run some spyware detection on my computer. Scared me for a second.
