how long should I expect to wait after winning a prize??

Simple question for anybody that has won something of value.

Through a Snapple contest I won a new Vespa et2 motor scooter.

I spoke with the fulfillment office on Friday, and they said I was now to wait for a representative from Snapple to call. How long after I speak to them should I expect my prize??

What do you guys think I can get for it(I'm in Toronto so it's $4200 MSRP in Canada). It wouldn't be worth keeping, I'm in a rural setting so getting anywhere takes me 20 minutes by car. besides that I'm 300 pounds so I'd look awefully funny driving that around.

How easy should it be to sell?? I really feel a need to spend the money, half to pay off my Visa bill, and half for a new receiver and sub kit.

Are you required to pay tax on that thing in Canada?? I know here in the states you would have to report that $4200 value as income and pay tax on it.

Nope, up here we don't pay taxes on prizes.

i'm thinking 4 to 6 weeks should be cool. if, at that point, you don't hear from someone, start making some calls.

on a side note, i just found out i won a contest as well. scored a harmony remote, logitech speakers and something else.

it's only the second time i've ever won anything. my first time was an 80's compilation cd from the local radio station.

Not bad Ted! This is actually my second win of the year, I won a day for me and a guest at the Mercedes Benz Performance driving school. Now that was really cool.

I really hope it's not 4-6 weeks, I was hoping for more like 4-6 days!! I'd like to sell this ASAP and have some fun.

Happy there isn't any tax, I'm hoping that the dealership I go to will offer to buy it from me!

I'd say ebay might be your best bet, it can't be TOO bad to ship the thing can it?

Here in Canada(don't know about the US) you can operate a scooter that is 49cc or less with your regular class 5 driver's licence.

"Oh Mikey do you think I even know what the hell they are talking about half the time? I dont know whether they are talking about how hard it is to be adopted or how their father never shows them love. All I do man, is I wrinkle my eyebrows, stare at their lips and somehow I turn out to be some big sweetie." - Trent Walker (Swingers - 1996)

US is the same way... moped / scooters do not require a special license.
