Funny thing happened to me the other day. I was moving into my new apartment and I ran across my boxes of comics from when I was a kid. I actually pulled a few out (some as old as 35-40 years) and gave them a look. It's starting to get me interested in comics again. I might just check out some of the ones on your list Brion. Any other recommendations from other members? Growing up I prefered Marvel fare like The Avengers, FF, Thor, and Hulk. Not sure what's going on with those comics these days though.

Hey Todd H,

Check out Avengers #500. It is the beginning of the Disassembled storyline written by Brian Michael Bendis. The storyline which ends with #503 will see the end of the Avengers as we know them. Some will die, some will leave. After #503 there will be a new Avengers series (starting at #1 instead of #504) with a new team. This series will also be written by Brian Michael Bendis.

Brion,

You and I have similar tastes except I’m not into Manga at all. I started reading comics when Miller was doing Daredevil and love all that stuff. I also really like Loeb/Sale and am looking forward to their Catwoman. What with this HT hobby and my other hobbies, I can’t afford too many comics, but I do currently read:
Daredevil
Avengers
Powers
Conan
Astonishing X-men
and Amazing Spiderman.

Other than Daredevil and Conan, this list is open to a lot of fluctuation. I also always keep an eye out for interesting indy type stuff and Forsaken is a new one that I’m enjoying so far.

I used to collect A LOT more than I do now, but I've always remained faithful to DC. I've never been a big fan of the stuff that Marvel puts out (not that they don't have good books)...

In the past few years though, I've really cut down on my books. I used to collect about a dozen titles per month, but with the rising cost of books, and what I found to be the plummeting quality of story, I cut back to three:

Flash
Justice League
Green Lantern

I used to also collect:
All the Superman Titles
Impulse
Transformers
All related Justice League Titles (JLA, JLE, JLTF)
The Savage Dragon
Wildcats
etc.

I highly recommend JL, GL and Flash though...

Moe.

I've just recently gotten back into comics after being huge into the X-men in the 80s and 90s. I've been reading the Ultimate lines, Ultimate Spider-Man and Ultimate X-Men.

I highly recommend Planetary, Rising Stars, Red Star, and the trades of Preacher, Sandman and the initial run of the Authority.

Luckily, right at that moment, an unconscious Argentinean fell through my roof.

He was quickly joined by a dwarf dressed as a nun.
