When I went to school we...

didn't have 17 year olds doing genetic research.

Quote:
Herbert Mason Hedberg, 17, who attends North Attleboro High School, experimented with the telomerase enzyme found in cancer cells for his Intel Science Talent Search entry. He found a way to screen for telomerase inhibitors and rank their potency in suppressing tumors.

Hedberg took an interest in the topic at a time when his grandmother was undergoing cancer treatment. Now the aspiring physician-scientist has a $100,000 college scholarship.

As a fellow high school student I have to congratulate all these guys since their research is far more impressive than mine. The 10th place finisher, Gordon Su, goes to my school... we play tennis together. It's pretty neat. Suffice it to say that at this rate, none of those finalists will have trouble getting where they want in college and further on.

And then when I feel so stuffed I can't eat anymore, I just use the restroom! And then I CAN eat more!

Yeah, back when I was in school an upper classman developed a piece of computer software that could measure a primate skull fragment and determine which species it was.

The theoretical purpose was to help archeologists differentiate neanderthals from missing links from apes and whatnot.

I wonder if the finished product really worked?
