Project Management Software. the search for...
I manage engineering projects and I am searching for a software program that may not even exist. If anyone has any suggestions please let me know.
The program I am looking for would combine a scheduling element (like MS Project), contacts, tasks and maybe even emails, although I realize that may not be possible and you would be able to combine all this info for a particular project into one screen (ideally). And then you would just have as many of these organized project summaries (views) as you have projects each with their own tasks, contacts, schedule etc.
What I am finding out is most programs fall into 1 of 2 categories. They are either full fledged project managing software packages (a la MS Project) with in depth resource allocating and every scheduling bell and whistle you would ever need or they are Personal Information Managers which are mostly geared towards sales and marketing people and have no features for managing a project…they are mostly about managing contacts. Don’t get me wrong, there is definitely a need for all these programs, but it just seems to me that there has to be something out there that combines the best elements of both for people like me, managing multiple projects, each with their own set of parameters.
Currently I use Outlook but it doesn’t quite do it all.
Has anyone had any experience with the Primavera suite of software programs ?
