Ode to the Woolley Bear

How many of you have heard of predicting the winter via the Woolley Bear? The caterpillar form of the Tiger Moth as can be seen here:

I saw thousands of them while biking to and from Mass, furiously trying to avoid smushing them under my tires but sometimes it was just sooo hard cause they were all over the roads up there, and they're slow! Always reminds me of that myth of predicting the upcoming winter via the orange stripe on their backs....
