Sinus Infections...YUCK!

I get sinus infections all the time and nothing seems to relieve the pressure. I've been using Claritin D, Tylenol Sinus, Benadryl, etc. even my prescription nose spray isn't doing a damn thing.

Last night, my nose was running SO badly that I actually shoved a Kleenex up there and left it. (Maybe I should try a Silica Pack )

My sinuses are so swollen it feels like my head wants to explode!!!

How do you deal with sinus infections?

Ever tried over-the-counter Drixoral? I've used it when my sinuses get desperately bad and it works wonders for me. Of course, I need to plan for at least a 12-hour period where I can do nothing but lie on the sofa and float around the room! (I don't need illegal drugs, I have Drixoral!!)

...And then there's the guy who saw the sign that said "Wet Floor", so he did.

The key to curing a sinus infection is to promote drainage. Sudafed and about a gallon of water a day. Any kind of anti-histamine such as benadryl, claritin, allegra, etc... will prevent drainage and thus prolong your agony. Anything with caffeine will also cause your body to lose water and thus thicken your mucus making it harder to drain.

I've never heard of Drixoral, but I'll look for it.

My dad has a sinus prescription and wants me to try one of his, but I freak out about taking other peoples meds. I know you said Drixoral is over-the-counter, but my dads meds sound similar to that.

I'm actually over the hump as far as the sinus infection. I've been dealing with the hacking cough from the nasal drip right now and my chest is SO SORE from all the coughing and sneezing.

Sinus problems suck. I would only get serious stuffed up noses if I did a lot of cocaine, the next day my nose would run and run and run, I have stuck a kleenex up there before to. The times my nose would be plugged I would just have to ride it out, Benedryl worked great for the runny nose but not for congestion(nothing did actually).

I have seen Larry David in action, and that man is an animal, and he has to be stopped.

I use to suffer from Sinus infections all the time. Whenever I got the common cold, which was about every 3 to 4 months, I'd get a sinus infection. I normally went to my doctor who prescribed antibiotics, decongestants (claritin-D or Zrytec D), and a 5 or 6 day supply of prescription steroids (helps inflammation). This cleared me up pretty quickly, but I was concerned about him freely giving me these prescriptions (I have since changed doctors).

But now, I have not had a cold and sinus infection for about a year now. My cure? I quit smoking last September.

Maybe I'll try that...oh wait, I don't smoke. Maybe I should start, then quit.

If you're sinus infection drains then you're in luck! I have suffered from recurrent sinus infections since I was 13. Then three years ago I got one that never quite went away. My nose just stopped draining. I was on antibiotics every other month, sometimes for a month at a time. Steroids helped keep it away for two months.

I had functional endoscopic sinus surgery this past September and have been much better. I still need to drink a lot and get plenty of rest. There is still room for improvement but sinus infections are awful. The worst part is when you tell someone about them they think you're whining because you have a cold.

My surgeon suggested that when you get a cold you should try something like dristan for a couple of days as well as decongestants. Irrigating with salt water is actually the best thing you can do to promote drainage. I hope some of this helped.

If this is your first night, you have to fight
