"Just An Old Fashioned Love Song" by Paul Williams.
This diminutive lyricist isn't the most handsomest man the world, but he stands tall among this generations most talented songwriters. And he certainly gets overlooked in the shuffle, mostly I feel, because he wrote hits for The Carpenters.
Just in this release are three big hit singles...for other artists, though..."Just An Old Fashioned Love Song", "We've Only Just Begun", and "Let Me Be The One". His vocal interpretations are his own unique takes, not copies of the Hit version...and that's what make this a special album. This, and the soundtrack to "Bugsy Malone" are out in special, Japanese mini-lp CD versions. A little pricey.
This was a hard one to chose, as it was up against his soundtrack to the "cult" motion picture "Phantom Of The Paradise". Get the DVD just out on a budget line. Another special set of songs, that stand alone from the film, as great songwriting. Check it out.
Just great songwriting and something you know is special.
