You are, of course, making the assumption that DialIdol is in any way accurate.

Ever since Kristy Lee was eliminated even though she was considered safe within the margin of error, I have considered DialIdol broken.

There are three reasons for this:

1) The stats are very prone to the bias of the people who use the dialers, and they are not representative of the population at large.

2) Due to an increased capacity of phone lines, there are less busy signals. Tracking the busy signal is the core metric for DialIdol, but it just doesn't have the accuracy it used to have beacuse there are less busies -- less busies means smaller sampling, and that, of course, leads to miscounts.

3) DI does not take into consideration text votes. This is a huge variable because all carriers offer unlimited texting plans, and many of the tweener-teen voters text their votes. One grandma dialing 20 times to cast four votes for David Cook is easily offset by a 12 year old texting a hundred times. Since their parents sprung for unlimited texting (hell, it's cheaper than the overages), they can vote all they want (voting itself is free -- you only have to pay your carrier per conditions of your texting plan). Notice that viewership has decline greatly but voting itself is the same or higher. These unlimited plans went into effect the last two weeks of season 6.

There are a lot of things wrong with the show, and the fact that a core group of texters can swing the vote one way or the other is just another issue the producers have never addressed. Then again, it serves the geezers right for taking the show away from the target audience back in season 5.

Another vote for Ron.

Getting out of jury duty is easy. The trick is to say you're prejudiced against all races.
