Since you mention an Onkyo 805 in another thread. Sounds like you need to go into the "Speaker Setup" menu. Then go to the "Speaker Config" submenu...set the options appropriately Sub=Yes, front/center/surround = 80Hz for starters. If you're running 5.1, you don't have "surround back" speakers so set those off. Recommend "double bass" = "off", personally.

Next you'll want to go into the "speaker distance" menu and at least ball park the numbers. Same with "Level calibration".

Again, if 5.1...make sure your surround speakers are connected to "surround" and not "surround back". SB is for a 7.1 setup.

BTW, the speaker setup (sub is just another speaker) is covered in the "Advanced Setup" section, starts on p.86 of your 805's manual.
